Maggie...now named Fiona got to go to her forever home today! AND Snuggle Bunny was up to something!

Picture

So we had a busy day with a few chickens getting picked up from the farm and a happy couple came to pick up a bunny at the same time!  Sugar Baby and Fonzi has an older litter of kits that a few are still here.  One of them was a doe we were calling Maggie.  She got to go to a pet home and has a lionhead brother and a little toy breed doggy who loves bunnies.  She is going to have a wonderful life!  Her mommy is going to use her fiber so she will be taken care of really well :)

So I walk out to check on the buns in the barn today and this is what I see...

Honey Bunny at it again!

So Honey Bunny had three kits in early April and we bred her again to Gatsby when her kits were older.  THEN we lost track of time! Her babies love her and she never seemed to want them to go anywhere.  So we never took them away from her completely until they were 9 weeks old...just a week before she delivered her next litter!  So on 6-16-18 she had four babies.  She is such a good mommy!  We are going to give her a break after these guys are weaned!  She has such gorgeous coated babies!  There seem to be two lilacs and two linx babies.

So many bunnies to update!

Harlow had her first litter that we are aware of on June 11, 2018.  She was bred to Gatsby and both of them have very nice pedigrees.  Harlow is a blue self and Gatsby is a steel blue.  They had 8 very tiny babies, 7 all look blue or steel blue and the only one that was a different color was the runt that didn't make it.  Boy did we work hard on that little baby :(  We think it was a REW.  But now, Harlow has 7 in the box and they are little popcorn poppers!  All are doing very well.  Pictured are them at a couple days and nine days old.

Sugar Baby and Sweetie had babies on the same day! 6-8-18

So we are very thankful that these guys didn't have large litters.  Sweetie only had two babies!  One is a Chestnut agouti and the other is solid blue.  But if you look in her nest box you will find more than just two kits.  Sugar Baby had 7 kits and two of them were really tiny so we gave them to Sweetie since her babies were so big and fat!  Now you would never know the tiny ones were ever tiny! So Sugar baby had two black, one blue, two really light fawn/cream and two fawn with tort starting to show up. This is Sweetie's first litter and she is doing awesome!

As if 12 wasn't enough!  Cuddle Bunny, Pandora....more kits!

Next we have Cuddle Bunny and Funny Bunny's litter that was born on 5-23-18.  There are 6 awesome agouti babies!  She is doing so good with her kits that we gave her one more from the next litter born on 5-25-18 to Pandora.  So crazy Pandora had babies on my mom's birthday (5-25-17).  She had 12 kits too!!!  Unfortunately she lost several kits.  She has 7 survivors and one is being raised by Cuddle Bunny.  Pandora's litter is sired by Gatsby.

We have bunnies coming out our ears!

Nadia x Funny Bunny had 12 kits on May 17, 2018.  The runt didn't make it although we tried really hard with it.  We gave 5 babies to Cinderella to foster because there were way too many for Nadia to care for.  Cinderella had just lost an entire litter of 9 babies due to early delivery and her first time ever having babies.  The cool thing is, she thinks that Nadia's 5 kits are her babies!  She nurses them and cares for them like her own.  She and kits all seem very happy!

Nadia has 6 of her kits that she has raised alone and is doing great.  They are growing very fast!  They are 5 weeks old now I believe and we need to take some new pictures of them!  We think there are 7 does and 4 bucks in fawn, tort, blue and black.  One of the fawn girls has a half harli mark on her face.  They are the cutest!

at country bumpkin bunnies we adore our bunnies

'Rabbits have a subtle repertoire of body language to communicate so they don't draw attention to themselves. They use these signals to bond with their hutch mates, and the humans in their lives to say 'I love you'.
