Whether you’re trying spinning and knitting as a hobby or you run a business and need luxury Angora wool for knitwear and home decor for sale, Country Bumpkin Bunnies offers you top quality and the best value for money.
Raising the English Angora rabbits for their hair is a highly-skilled task. It needs time, dedication, and passion. Now that we have been raising these beautiful angora bunnies for a few years, we have really learned the quality and beauty of their fiber. We have a variety of color breeding programs and can offer a multitude of fiber in a variety of colors from them! We also dye some of our fibers and card it into roving's. Upon request, we can custom blend for additional fees.
We love bunnies
At Country Bumpkin Bunnies, we use clipping and plucking techniques to harvest the wool from molting rabbits. Our Angora wool is raw, untreated, and ready-to-dye. We gently harvest the wool of our pedigreed rabbits on the family farm that molt three to four times a year. Rest assured, quality is top-notch and pure.
You can purchase raw English Angora fiber in premium prime in two ounce increments or it can be purchased cleaned, carded, dyed and in roving's. Whatever your preference is, just let us know and will will fill your order. Some colors are not available and we do have a waiting list on special requests so please be sure to be specific in what you are looking for.
Our English Angora fiber for sale is priced at $18.00+ per ounce. Our prices reflect all of the work we put into raising the rabbits, maintaining the high maintenance coats, their diets, and harvesting. If we sell it as prime raw, it is laid out nicely on our custom tissue paper in the same direction at 2 ounces per sheet. We have not experienced any felting of the fibers by processing this way. This also ensures the best handling and storing until use. The more work put into preparing the produce, the price is reflected. For example, rovings and dyed fiber will cost a little more than raw. Shorter staple offered in bags are discounted prices and weight varies.
We have videos to show us harvesting one of our English Angoras so you can see exactly how it is done. It is done safely, humanely and does NOT harm the rabbit in any way at all. The worst part is that they have to sit in one spot longer than they probably like. Our rabbits are very friendly and affectionate. We handle them often and they are used to the human touch. They are kept very clean by grooming often. We do our very best to make sure there is little to no VM (vegetable matter) in their fibers. We do have shorter clippings from when the coat is different lengths and keep those separate from our prime cuts. Our prime can be three to six inch staples.
On a rare occasion, we have allowed seven inch growth before harvesting. Our shorter cuts will come at a discounted price (as mentioned above) in a plastic zip lock bag and range from one to sometimes four inch staple. These packages are intended for fiber arts such as felting. Whatever you may be looking for from an English Angora, WE HAVE IT!
