Paris' first litter!

Paris kindled 6 sweet white babies early this morning.  They are all very pink so our guess is they will all be white.  The color possibilities are REW, pointed, ermine and pearl.  I don't think Paris carries for the BEW but who knows!  This is exciting so we will be eager to see these cuties with fur and their eyes open!
Oh...and guess what!?  Pumpkin Pie had her babies that we thought at first was just two kits, then six kits later.  Well, that crazy girl had seven in there this morning!  What is up with these girls? hahahahaha

Oooops! I counted the bunnies too soon!

Well, I thought it was odd that Mocha Lady had only two kits and she has had bigger litters before.  I didn't really mind because small litters are less work and I can cuddle them all at one time!  I went out late last night to check on everyone and found that she kindled more kits!  She actually had 9 but only 7 survivors.  So we have new pictures to update you with.
THEN.... I never expected this!  Pumpkin Pie is a new mommy.  She didn't surprise me  by having only two babies.  I checked them last night and they were fed and fat.  This morning she had 6 in there!!!  You just never know about these wascally wabbits! LOL

July 21st, 2018

This morning I went out to the barn to do my morning chores and saw that Mocha Lady and Pumpkin Pie each had babies in their nest boxes! Pumpkin just had her first litter of bunnies. I was surprised to see that they each had 2 bunnies. Mocha was bred to Blu, and Pumpkin was bred to Boomer. Boomer and Pumpkin are both first time parents. We think that one of Pumpkin's kits is a REW!!! I am very excited to see what they look like when they get a little bit older.

Mocha Lady x Blu, hopeful litter due July 22, 2018

Picture

So we trimmed down Mocha since it is really hot out now and she is pregnant.  If she isn't pregnant, she sure has put on some belly weight!  We are unsure of what her babies will look like but with Blue, most likely some blue VM babies.  Maybe even some blue eyes! We are excited to see what she produces.  This is possibly Mocha Lady's last litter for us.  We are pretty sure we are going to retire her as a pet since she has had a couple of litters already.  We do not breed our bunnies that many times because we do want them to live out their lives as pets as well.

So today we had a tea party and photo shoot with Aqua and Hops-a-lot.  Aqua is my bunny, not for sale but Hops-a-lot is for sale so check her out!  Even Justus and Celeste got in on the fun!

Not much going on but grooming and cleaning here!

Picture

So we have lots of baby bunnies right now!  Nadia has 11, Pandora has 7, Cuddle Bunny has 6, Harlow has 7, Sugar Baby has 7, Sweetie as 2 and Honey Bunny has 4!  So that is 44 kits to be watching over closely as they grow and keeping their homes nice and clean.  That is a lot of work for a bunny mommy!  Then I have 4 older bunnies that are weaned and ready to go to their forever homes. They were born in Feb and Mar.  I have even discounted these cute boys!  I also have one little girl who I absolutely LOVE, that is Hops-a-lot. She is a fawn doe from Honey Bunny's first litter and she needs a new home. I am keeping her sister and we named her Aqua.  These babies are very spoiled!  I had my tonsils and adenoids removed and tubes put in my ears not too long ago.  Hops-a-lot, Aqua and their sister Maggie who is adopted already were my bff's!  They hung out with me in bed while I was healing from surgery.

So now that the summer heat is full on, we are grooming like crazy to keep our bunnies cooled down.  Everyone is shaved down and some in a lion clip but not too much hair.  90 degrees to an angora bunny is very hot.  Just imagine walking outside in the heat of the summer with your winter attire on.  We do not have our bunny palace built yet so we have huge fans and ice bottles in every hutch to keep the bunnies comfortable.

Here is one of our girls we just groomed. This is London Holiday.  She is a chestnut agouti doe and has not had babies yet.  She is just now old enough to breed but we will wait until the weather cools down a bit before breeding any other girls.

at country bumpkin bunnies we adore our bunnies

'Rabbits have a subtle repertoire of body language to communicate so they don't draw attention to themselves. They use these signals to bond with their hutch mates, and the humans in their lives to say 'I love you'.
